What motivated you to participate in Frontiers of Interaction?
Basically because I've always had great interest for new technologies
moreover, in my daily professional practice,
I already use computer devices
and consequently I have a considerable spirit of curiosity
for possible news in the sector.
Do you make use of mobile devices in your daily practice?
Substantially, I already use them in my daily practice
and they are a big help for me in the interaction with the patient
both in the physician office and on the ward.
What are the pros and cons of medical mobile devices' use in clinical practice?
I am essentially enthusiastic of new technologies
so I see mostly pros,
and I think that with increasing an integrated use of new technologies
in medical practice
there will be some obvious advantages.
The cons, basically, can result
by distrust, probably at the beginning,
by people who are not used
to use these devices under discussion.
From physical interaction in the physician office to the virtualization of counselling online also facilitated by the Mobile Health.
How do you imagine in the near future the doctor-patient relationship?
I am in line with what I heard in the seminar that I attended earlier
during which it was stated that the common opinion
among physicians is that these technologies
will break down about 30% of the visits
both for patients' study and the doctor's office.
I think this will actually be the tendency
to a substantial reduction of the need, by the patient,
in going directly to the doctor . A big advantage!
Doctor-patient relationship mediated by eHealth: what might be
in your opinion the perception of patients? Suspicion or enthusiasm?
I expressed this thought before:
actually distrust or excitement will depend a lot
from how much individual patients are using mobile devices
or other technological instruments in their daily lives.
Certainly for those who make greater use of them will be natural
to use it also to improve their quality of life
in terms of health, both prevention of disease or treatment.
For many, however, who do not use them, there will be an initial resistance
but I think that the road is now marked.
